SDMB: Monster Logic: Folio One [Sam/Dean, PG-13] by indiachick

Summary: “It’s a monster,” Sam says, softly, at the same time that Dean says, “That’s the thing that took our father.”
When Deirdre Mosby and her bizarre gang pick up two bloody boys on the road to Savannah, she figures -- whatever, just leave her to sulk in the back seat. It's just another errand for her strange employers. But Sam and Dean Winchester are not alone. They've got a giant, six-winged monster tagging along with them. And seriously, even she knows that two boys and a monster are a sure recipe for trouble.

The art for this one is rather interesting. Has anyone tried the fic? If its fully an outsider POV, it would be a turn off

It's not. I think there is one brief section (very first) that's outsider POV? I loved this fic! It's a bit odd and like nothing I've seen much in the fandom, but it's a very cool case fic. Don't read it for wincest alone (there isn't much) but read it for the case and the enjoyable writing.

It is wincest? I thought this one would be Gen? Can you read it as Gen by any chance? It does sound SO intriguing..

Yes- it's mostly gen. There's like, barely there wincest-y feels towards the end, but the rest of it can be read as gen just fine. The author put the warning in just to be on the safe side.

The art is really good and unusual - and so fare the fic. seems promising too.

This one's really very strange. It's got aesthetic, and not the simple in-your-face kind. It's all mostly night scenes, and the art seems to reflect that, and the writing is different. The random disassociation of the Winchesters against what's happening--and what's happening is pretty strange, almost magical realist--was kinda putting me off till the sort of "reveal" around the third part, and then it made more sense. Also, I like clever teenage Winchesters, so maybe it's a personal thing, but there's no pre-series woobieness, and there's a delightful garden fight. One of the better SDMBs this round.

This fic is rather impressive - at least I was impressed:)

The monsters are very interesting and diverse - and there are some nice parallels to later canon events.

And the stuffed cat singing American pie was a nice touch
