SDMB: The Ballad of the Invisible Boy [Sam/Dean, NC-17] by melungeoned

Summary: This is a story of adolescence. This is a love letter for the slow burn, for Led Zeppelin, for the 90s. This is the first of three sets of stories about how Sam and Dean didn’t fall in love. They never had to. It was always there, this desperation between them, like a real, breathing thing. When they came together, it was inevitable. as sure as continents colliding, as the phases of the moon and the life and death of stars. This isn’t a love story, but it’s a story of love.

I started reading, and the writing is decent but the 57K story is broken into tiny posts (there is AO3, though, as an alternative). John is an evil asshole the one time I saw him so far, and there is another eeeeevil bully at the very beginning. Sam burst into tears twice already. Also Sam is apparently a sheltered little thing who at the age of 12 cannot comprehend that sometimes brothers hate each other, beat each other up and make each other miserable, which to me just sounds like the author is pushing the point of "Winchester brothers are really tight and take good care of each other" way too hard, to the point where it becomes a little ridiculous. I quit, but maybe some other nonnie can give it a try and report back. I remember a lot of people were interested in that summary.

It hits its stride more around the second part. There are some good bits with John later on. IA about the beginning.
